St Martin-in-the-Fields Altar

1
2

As part of the renewal of St Martin-in-the-Fields by Eric Parry Architects, Shirazeh Houshiary and Pip Horne were commissioned to create a new altar to form the focus of the church’s interior.  Houshiary’s and Horne’s design is made from a single travertine block that has been hollowed out, set on a dark oak base.  The simplicity of its form complements the intricate design of the East Window

A profile of Shirazeh Houshiary with more information about her commission is available on ARTnews.
