Light Up Queen Street Nocturne

Nocturne, was a temporary artwork created by David Ward for Queen Street, London.   As the title suggests, the work took its inspiration from the evocations of the night.  The piece incorporates both audio and visual elements with summer birdsong accompanying a projected image of the night sky.  The sounds of a summer woodland were thus transposed to the winter evenings.  For the adjacent St. Michael Paternoster Royal Church, a large-scale image of the Pleiades star constellation was projected onto the south wall, the artist's inspiration being the navigational means that the night sky presented to sailors, to whom the church of St. Michael Paternoster is dedicated.

This work was part of the Light Up Queen Street Programme, curated and organised by Modus Operandi.
