Imagine that you are travelling on the DLR, looking out of the window, and you see a house, an office, a factory or any other building.  Do you ever ask yourself "I wonder what goes on there?" or "Who lives there?" Alan Wiliams.

Photographer Alan Williams was commissioned to create a series of posters for the DLR network.  Sidetrack depicts snapshots of local community life, scenes of work, leisure and architecture specific to the different areas surrounding each DLR station.  Williams affords the spectator a rare glimpse into these unseen worlds, depicting scenes which are both everyday and unexpected, familiar yet haunting.

Sidetrack was the inaugural commission to launch the DLR Public Art Strategy and is part of DLR Art, the Public Art Programme for the Docklands Light Railway, curated and managed by Modus Operandi.
