BBC Broadcasting House Public Art Programme

Updating the BBC’s early Reithian aspirations which were to ‘inform, educate and entertain’, artists’ starting points have included global and local networks, communication and interaction, speech and sound. Their proposals encompassed public space, light, sound, colour, information dissemination, video, photography, and interactive technologies. Engaging people’s creativity has been at the core of the programme and aspects of all the projects have been realised with the involvement of staff, visitors and local residents, including students and schoolchildren.

The BBC Broadcasting House Public Art Programme was the result of the BBC Broadcasting House Public Art Strategy.
